Specialised middle schools (Fachmittelschulen): What is new?

The curriculum at the specialised middle schools (Fachmittelschulen) is an extension of the curriculum at the Diploma middle schools, replacing this in summer 2004. The "Regulations on the recognition of certificates of upper secondary level Schools" passed on 12 June 2003 in the plenary assembly by the Swiss Conference of the Cantonal School Ministers (EDK) have been in force since 1 August 2004. The curriculum of the EDK for the specialised middle schools (Fachmittelschulen) forms as the basis for the cantonal curricula.
