Vocational and higher specialist exams (Berufs- und höhere Fachrüfungen)
The vocational exams serves to establish whether the candidate has the necessary abilities and knowledge to take on a leading position in a given profession or to fulfil a more demanding occupational function than after the successful completion of an apprenticeship.
A higher specialist exam (Höhere Fachprüfung/Meisterprüfung) establishes whether the candidates possess the skills and knowledge to run an enterprise alone and satisfy stringent professional requirements.
Higher specialist schools (Höhere Fachschulen)
The higher specialist schools (HF) teach students the skills required to assume professional and management responsibilities in their field. The educational courses and post diploma courses are practically orientated and especially encourage the ability of methodical and networked thinking. Furthermore, they offer further qualifications for analysing complex tasks specific to their occupational field and for the practical application of the acquired knowledge.
